The Direct Investments Department is responsible for all private investments made directly by Amwal Invest into selected operating companies through privately negotiated transactions. These investment opportunities may arise from attractive transactions performed by our Corporate Finance Department or through Amwal Invest’ active search for profitable investment opportunities. Direct investing include equity and equity-related Venture Capital investments such as attractive start-ups with strategic partners, participation as founders in newly introduced IPOs or expansion capital such as growth-oriented established private businesses (both locally and regionally). By supporting businesses in the fast growing phase of their cycle, Amwal Invest aims to achieve profits superior to those which are typically earned by investing in listed companies.
The lifecycle of such investments is medium to long term as it takes time to unlock hidden value. The majority of companies in which we invest in are not expected to appreciate substantially in value within a short period of time. Moreover, such investments are usually realized or exited once a proper exit mechanism is determined.
